Heart with words describing the role of a school nurse

School is back in full swing, and I thought I would take some time to introduce myself. My name is Sonia Giddens, and I am the nurse for USD #218. I grew up right here in the wonderful town of Elkhart, KS, and graduated with the class of 1997 from Elkhart High School. I earned my Associate's Degree in Nursing from Seward County Community College, and plan to return to finish my Bachelor's very soon. I have come to discover that school nursing is where my heart is, and my goal is to become a certified school nurse.

My goal as a school nurse is to create a safe and healthy environment so your child can be successful in school. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. My hours are ever changing, but I try to be as consistent as I can. You can usually find me in the mornings from 7:30-10:30 at the Middle School, then from 10:30-11:30 at the High School. I am at the Middle school again from 11:30 until about 12:00. The remainder of the day you can find me at the Elementary School. Please know that if there is an emergency I will be where I am needed at that time. You may reach me by calling the school, or you can call me at (620) 453-2617.

Sincerely,

Sonia Giddens, RN
