Reading Recovery/Title I Instructor
Reading is the most important skill your children will ever learn. It’s the tool your child needs the most at school, and it is essential for nearly every job and career.
I was raised in Kansas about 4 hours straight East of Elkhart. I had not even heard of the “Panhandle,” until I met my husband while attending Northwestern in Alva, Ok. We have been married for 13 years and have three beautiful daughters. Yes, all girls ages 7, 5 and 3. Our world is full of Barbies, pink and lots of dresses with bows to match.
I have been teaching for thirteen years, five of those years at Elkhart Elementary. My degrees include Music Education from NWOSU and Elementary Degree from OPSU. I completed my Master in Reading Specialty from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. I am currently an instructor for the Reading Recovery students, which include struggling 1st Grade reading students. I also work with the Parallel Block reading rotations with the 1st through 4th Graders. Title I services are provided for the 4th Grade through 6th Grade working on Reading and Math skills with small group instruction.
Your children need to see how exciting reading can be. They will learn this every time you share a wonderful story with them, or open a book about fascinating people, places or things. It’s up to you to show them that reading is far more than just a subject taught in school- it’s the doorway to a lifetime of learning, creating, discovering, and succeeding.
