Students and Teachers get a Break on Labor Day, 2014.

August 26, 2014

Labor Day is the celebration of workers in our country for the work and effort that they contribute to make our country great and prosperous. In the U.S. and Canada, it is celebrated on the first Monday of September. It is also celebrated as International Worker's Day in many other countries on May 1st. It supposedly first came about when the secretary of the Central Labor Union suggested the holiday. It was promoted by both CLU and the Knights of Labor. This year in Elkhart, on Labor Day, there will be no school. The normal schedule will resume on the following Tuesday.
