EHS Students Successful at HPL Music Contest

EHS Music students attended the High Plains League Music Contest at Stanton County High School Wednesday, February 24. Both the choir and band performed along with vocal and instrumental soloists. Judges from various area community colleges and high schools scored each event and gave suggestions to performers for improvement. They rated performances from I-IV; I being Superior, II being Excellent, III being Average and IV being Poor. Three students took instrumental solos to contest. Chihiro K. performed "The Magic Flute" by Mozart and received a I rating. Magen W. performed "Sonatina" by Hadyn on her alto saxophone and received a II+. Also receiving a II+ was Seth W. for his French horn performance of "Pachelbel Canon" arr. by Dorff. Ten students performed vocal solos for the judges. The results of these performances were as follows:

These students will travel to Garden City Community College on March 27th to participate in the KSHSAA Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students who receive I ratings at regional contest will qualify for state contest in April. Congratulations to our talented Wildcat musicians!
