One Chosen for KMEA 1234A State Band
February 05, 2010
Two students traveled to Salina, KS in January to audition for the 1234A Kansas Music Educators Association Honor Band. The roster has been announced and Josielyn A. has been selected third chair bass clarinet for the 2010 KMEA State Honor Band. She is one of the first-ever EHS students be selected to this band. Auditions for the 1234A Band were open to students in grades 10-12 who were selected to and participated in their respective KMEA District Honor Bands. Students from all over the state traveled to Salina on a Saturday to audition in front of a panel of five judges. The students were required to perform a section of a selected etude, chromatic and major scales, and were given thirty seconds to learn a sight-reading piece. The auditions were a grueling process and they took a toll on many students. Josielyn will travel to Wichita, KS on Feb. 25th to attend the state festival Thursday-Saturday. The week will culminate with performances by the 1234A Band, 56A Band and the State Choir among others. Congratulations Josielyn!
