The clock shall run continuously except for time outs and during the reporting and shooting of free-throws.

The clock shall run during violations, out-of-bounds and the like.

If the game is still tied at the end of the overtime period, the teams shall play sudden death period. At this time, team fouls will be reset to zero, allowing teams to only shoot free throws on shooting fouls or in the case that a team reaches the 1 and 1 bonus. The first team to score shall be the winner.

There shall be a 6-minute rest period between halves.

Each team will be allowed two time outs per half with no carry-overs.

A team will be allowed one time out per overtime period.

All players present must play in two quarters per game. All coaches are encouraged to make this playing time meaningful.

A player receiving a technical foul can no longer participate that day.

Coaches must remain in their assigned coaching boxes during the game as outlined in the KSHSAA rule book.

A coach receiving a flagrant/unsportsmanlike technical foul will be dismissed from coaching for the remainder of the game and must leave the premises. If deemed necessary by the league and/or the team's recreation department, a coach may be dismissed from coaching for additional games up to and including the remainder of the season.

The defensive team cannot press; they may play man to man when the offensive players cross mid-court. No pressing is allowed.

If a team is ahead by 15 or more points, defense must set up inside the arc.

Players will shoot from the regular free-throw line when using goal extensions. If the goals lower, players will shoot from 2 ft. inside the regular free-throw line.

Shots made from behind the arc (three point shots) will only be counted as 2 points.

If a team does not have enough players, the other team may give them some of their players, so that the kids can play ball.

3RD GRADE RULES CONT.

In the event that a team has a numerous amount of players, a 5th quarter can be played. If either of the head coaches wants to play the 5th quarter, it must be played. This should be determined prior to the start of the game.

5th quarters will be 8 minutes long with a continuous clock. The scoreboard will be re-set along with individual and team fouls.

5th quarter is for non-starters. Regular game starters should only play in the fifth quarter if a team doesn't have enough to play without them.

5th quarters will not have any bearing on league records.

Coaches, please keep track of your record as you will be asked to provide it at the end of the regular season.

THIS 3RD GRADE LEAGUE IS DESIGNED TO BE FUN AND EDUCATIONAL, LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!!
