Hi, My name is DeLane Boaldin, and I am honored to be your child’s teacher this year. I was born in Syracuse, KS. I moved to Boise City when I was six. I graduated from Boise City High School in 1990. I then attended OPSU on academic scholarship hoping to get a degree and begin a career. I taught at a private preschool while in college to make extra money for living expenses. I also worked part-time at Wal*Mart in the accounting department. I met Thon Boaldin, one of Elkhart’s natives, while I was in college. We were married after a long courtship and moved back to the area to work with his family on their farm and ranch.
I first began teaching in the public school system in 1997, and taught for three years at Yarbrough Elementary. In 2000 I was employed to teach in the preschool program here in Elkhart. I taught for four years in this area. I stayed home for the following two years to keep books for our family farm and ranch. While it was nice to be home more, I missed teaching greatly. In 2006 I was given the opportunity to teach first grade, and I am happy to be here! Last year I became certified in Reading Recovery, which is a program that helps teachers learn to meet the needs of beginning and struggling readers. I am also working towards my masters and will be certified in ESOL soon.
I have two boys, Colton and Westin. I have a competitive streak in me, and I enjoy watching and playing all sports. I love to ride horses, go for walks, and recently learned that white water rafting is a blast! I want your child to have fun while learning; in addition, I have high expectations in the areas of self-control and academics. I believe your child can have a wonderful year of academic and personal growth, as we work together as a team. My door is always open, please know you can come and visit about your child at any time. I look forward to a great year with your child as we adventure through this season of life together: teacher, parents, and child…as a team.
Sincerely,
DeLane Boaldin
