I was born Aug. 24, 1953 in Huntington, New York. My father joined the Air Force when I was in the second grade. I traveled around a lot as a youngster and lived in many places, including the Philippines! It was a fun childhood with lots of interesting memories.
I graduated in 1971 from Air Academy High in Colo. Springs. I attended the University of Colorado for two years before transferring to and graduating from the University of Texas in Austin in 1975. I met my husband Jim while attending the University of Colo. We got married August 16, 1975 in Austin, Texas and moved to Colo. Springs where we lived for two years. I received my Masters’ Degree in 2004 from Fort Hays University and completed my classes for my administrative leadership endorsement in 2006. I will be taking the test for that in January and with any luck will pass it !!
I taught at a private school in the Springs for the two years we lived there. My husband got a job with CIG, which brought us to Elkhart, KS in 1977. I got a job teaching in this school district in August of 1977 and have taught here ever since!
My husband and I have 3 children. All of them are married now and live here in Elkhart as well. They have blessed us with 6 grandchildren total! My oldest daughter, Katie, is the anesthetist at the hospital. She and her husband, Levi, have 3 energetic boys. My next daughter, Corinna, is a High School teacher here in Elkhart. She and her husband Leo have one daughter. My son, J.W., is the construction supervisor (tower climber) for the local telephone company. He and his wife Jackie have a son and a daughter.
During my tenure here at Elhart I have taught a lot of different grade levels and subjects. I have been teaching 7th/8th grade math for the last 7 years. I love this school district, community, and most of all—the students!! It’s a lot of fun and I wouldn’t trade jobs for anything!!
