NHS Inducts New Members
by Mrs. Carter
March 02, 2009
The Elkhart High School chapter of the National Honor Society
held their annual induction ceremony Thursday, February 26 in the
Elkhart High School auditorium.
To be considered for the EHS chapter, students must be classified
as a sophomore, junior, or senior and have a cumulative average of
at least 92%. Students who have achieved both were given
applications. Those who chose to apply were evaluated by faculty
members and coaches, and then are reviewed by the NHS Advisory
Council.
During the ceremony, members spoke about the areas of scholarship,
character, leadership, and service. Each inductee was introduced by
President Tiawna C. as he or she received a key from a current
member. Each then signed the master log book, touched a candle to
each of the four colored candles which represented the qualities of
a NHS member, and then pledged as a group to uphold the standards
of membership.
2009 inductees are Rene B., Kristin C., Shalie H., Chris L., Afton
L., Jonathan O., Alecia S., and Magen W.
