State Budget Cuts

The Kansas Legislature is in the process of finding solutions for the State budget deficit. Included in their solution is a cut in education. Various bills have been discussed in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The amount proposed changes daily. This loss of State funding will cause a cut in many programs and services provided to our students that have improved state assessment scores throughout the district. The District’s average Reading score has increased from 60.7 in 2005 to 66.4 in 2008. Math scores have also shown an increase from 48.2 in 2005 to 58.6 in 2008. This funding is a necessity for continued growth for our students. Please contact our local state representatives and let them know the impact of cuts on our district.
