Elkhart Elementary School: EES Counselor

Character Counts at Elkhart Elementary School

by Kent Morrison

May 30, 2008

Character is what a person is inside.  Our character is revealed by how we act when we think no one is looking.  It is how we treat everyone not just our friends.  A person of character has good ethical values and knows right from wrong.  When a person has a strong character they will display it even when it is not convenient and at times that it may cost them something.

Good character does not just happen.  That is why we teach the Six Pillars of Character at the Elementary School.  We are trying to instill and reinforce ethical values that are being taught at home.  The following are the jingles that we use to help kids remember each trait.

Citizenship

Be a good neighbor today.

Obeying the rules and respecting authority is what it is all about.

If you do your part... A good CITIZEN is what you'll be!
