Do you want to get the most out of life? Most of us do. With all of the talk about obesity, heart disease and even high cholesterol among young children, it’s difficult not to be concerned about the health of our kids.
With the help of Rene’ Witcher, our school nurse, students in the 4th grade classes have been learning about eating healthy and staying active. She is teaching the kids how to get the most out of life by doing what’s right for their bodies using the Power Panther Pals program. Each week Mrs. Witcher comes into the classroom to give a lesson on a particular health related topic. She gives them examples of nutritious snacks and lets students make their own. The lesson is then topped off with a fun physical activity for the kids to participate in.
The Power Panther Pals is a child nutrition and wellness program sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education. For more information on this program and healthy living check out the following sites.
